Transfer Your Domain to Bloom Hosting

Moving your domain to Bloom Hosting is straightforward and comes with free WHOIS privacy and DNS management.

Before You Start

Requirements:

  • Domain must be at least 60 days old
  • Domain must not be expired
  • Domain must be unlocked at current registrar
  • You must have access to domain admin email
  • EPP/Authorization code from current registrar

Step 1: Prepare Your Domain

At Your Current Registrar:

1. Unlock Your Domain

  1. Log in to your current registrar
  2. Find domain management section
  3. Look for "Domain Lock" or "Transfer Lock"
  4. Disable the lock

2. Get Authorization Code

  1. Find "Transfer" or "Authorization Code" option
  2. Request EPP code (also called Auth Code)
  3. Code will be emailed to domain admin email
  4. Save this code - you'll need it for transfer

3. Disable WHOIS Privacy (Temporarily)

  1. Turn off WHOIS privacy protection
  2. Ensure admin email is accessible
  3. You can re-enable it after transfer

4. Verify Admin Email

  • Check the admin email for your domain
  • Make sure you can receive emails at this address
  • Update if needed before starting transfer

Step 2: Initiate Transfer

At Bloom Hosting:

  1. Log in to your client area
  2. Go to Domains → Transfer Domain
  3. Enter your domain name
  4. Click "Transfer"
  5. Enter the EPP/Authorization code
  6. Complete payment (includes 1-year extension)

Step 3: Approve Transfer

You'll receive an email to your domain admin address:

  1. Check your email inbox
  2. Look for transfer approval email
  3. Click the approval link in the email
  4. Or log in to old registrar and approve there

Step 4: Wait for Completion

Timeline:

  • Immediate: Transfer initiated
  • Within hours: If approved by you
  • 5-7 days: Maximum if no action taken

During Transfer:

  • Your website continues to work normally
  • Email continues to function
  • DNS remains unchanged
  • You can track progress in client area

After Transfer Completes

Verify Transfer:

  1. Check client area for domain status
  2. Look for "Active" status
  3. Verify expiration date (extended by 1 year)

Configure Domain:

  • Update nameservers if needed
  • Enable free WHOIS privacy
  • Set up DNS records
  • Configure email forwarding
  • Enable auto-renewal

DNS During Transfer

Option 1: Keep Current Nameservers

  • DNS settings remain unchanged
  • Website and email continue working
  • Update nameservers after transfer completes

Option 2: Change to Our Nameservers

  • Before transfer: Copy all DNS records
  • Create matching records in our DNS manager
  • Update nameservers after transfer completes

Troubleshooting

Transfer Failed?

  • Verify domain is unlocked
  • Check EPP code is correct
  • Ensure domain admin email is accessible
  • Verify domain isn't within 60-day registration period
  • Check domain hasn't expired

Not Receiving Approval Email?

  • Check spam/junk folder
  • Verify admin email address
  • Log in to old registrar to approve manually
  • Request email resend

Domain Locked?

  • Contact current registrar
  • Some registrars lock domains for 60 days after changes
  • Wait for lock period to expire
